Watch out when running Politics and this CP since a plan to end all Hwy subsidies would be terrifically unpopular. This forces you to run the CP conditionally at best.
This round has 5 strategic realms for you to keep in mind at all times:

-Be systematic and try to answer each argument that the 1AR extended. But remember you only need one or two args on each case page, so pick your best ones.

Comments: FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW FLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [and do it on paper!] if you dont have any of the other teams arguments written down, then how can you expect yourself to answer them? You can not both debate paperlessly off your computer and attempt to flow on your computer. There were many strategic issues coming out of the 1NC that we talked about after round. But, just be wary... and be sure to talk to your partner so you guys come up with the strat together. and there was no 2NR.. functionally you can not go for all 4 flows in the last speech and because you had so little time, you werent able to say anything of substance on any of the flows. You have to make decisions in the final speeches.

Comments: You hold your ground in cross-ex, and you have a good presence and your super aggressive. However, coming out of the 1NC, there are numerous strategic problems... the way you constructed the shells to your arguments make it so that they clash with one another... so yeah. like, the counter plan linked to the DA, and there was no impact to your spending DA. It was just very messy and not a well thought out strategy. But, you did your best with what you had.

-Need to summarize and do the 1NR with more passion and quickness. I want you to focus on being an engaging speaker and it will help you win some of these points.
-You should read more cards in the 1NR, especially on the DA. Explain why it outweighs the case and try to bolster the arguments of theirs that you think are the most threatening. On the DA, stick to their arguments in the order that they made them and try to attack their evidence and build up your own.

    Comments:
You did very well, especially since your partner is sick and you had to go alone. I know that you're uncomfortable being maverick, but dont worry. Your handeling everything perfectly. If you just calm down and focus, you will preform brilliantly during the rest of the tourney. I know that the speech was prewritten, however, I think if you kept a better flow then you would be bale to answer more of their case arguments. Also, the "They Say, We Say" model is best for trying to go line by line until you get better at it. The flows got a little messy.

2AC: You should redo this speech. Started out doing a great job with line-by-line on the case flows, but be sure to do that with all the case arguments! You should be able to respond to most case arguments without reading additional evidence. Good job permuting the CP but you don't need to read evidence about why it solves federalism or controversy - they don't have a federalism DA or a politics DA. Make a theory argument, especially since they read 2 CPs! Good selection of which cards to read. Your last argument on the carbon tax CP also links to you. You were making a good argument that carbon taxes were worse for the economy than government spending in CX - say this in your speech!
2AR: I really liked your argument that the government is spending a lot now and the impact hasn't happened yet. You should make that in the 2AC! You did a good job going line-by-line on the case. Your 2AC should be more like this (on the case). The 1AR only made one argument on spending - that it's good for the economy. That's all you can talk about in the 2AR without it being new. You had over a minute left!

Don't read arguments that will hurt ur advantage dont read impact D on econ why u solve for econ
If they mainly contest impact level u should address the alt and the link where its weak and should answer the root cause claim because u wont be able to address ur impacts

You should not have only half your speech and rely on your partner for so many arguments. You also need to come prepared with a way to transfer speeches in the event that the internet doesn’t work.

    on case.
2AR -- You're in a difficult spot on T, but your approach is still strange -- you don't extend the one 1AR argument, and the way you explain your aff directly links to the 2NR's arguments about effects T. Maybe spend the time on reasonability instead. On states/politics, focus on extending 1AR arguments, explaining the warrants, and winning an impact to the solvency deficit.

I voted Affirmative because the negative did not sufficiently develop any of their positions. On capitalism, I think the Aff wins a combination of the permutation and some of their capitalism good evidence. On elections, the 2NR did not respond to several of the 1AR's specific arguments which would have made it hard to vote on that an the CP. It is also just hard to conceptualize how to make my decision when there a multiple worlds in the 2NR.
Should always do the case first in the 2AC. Never ask the 2NC if she answered something! Then they can still answer it...

You stutter sometimes and should work on backwards and the a drill
Go line by line in the 1nr it felt the like it was all over the place it should be more organized

1AR – on case you need to be much more efficient. You are making good arguments but it’s taking too much time. Write 1AR blocks for common case arguments. I don’t think you should extend the terrorism advantage; it wasn't extended in the 2AC, and it isn't really getting you anywhere. Also, the turn you read to the oil DA has no terminal impact – why does it matter if backstopping diminishes Iran's influence? It might be more effective just to make defensive arguments.

Should read the 1ac to find more problems and cx questions
Take more prep for the 2nc if you're not ready it is better than going up and being confused as to what to say
You should give a clear story of cap in the 2nr at every level - link, impact and alt. Only addressing the impact doesn't mean that it will win. If the 2ar gets up and wins link or the alt they would win.
